The "Turba” is a performance that - on the evening of Good Friday – commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Christ in the form of a popular-religious theatre in the village of Cantiano in the Province of Pesaro-Urbino. It has its origins, even if not directly, in the popular entreaties for peace ("flagellation”), that around 1250 diffused themselves in the Marche and Umbria and in the rest of Northern Europe. For one evening, Catiano’s historical centre becomes a huge open air stage, where actors and spectators together follow the streets of the village to go to the places in which terrific settings complete the performance. An important event for the whole community and for the community that joins as spectator and offers the possibility to realise and live a peculiar dynamical relationship between the spectacle and the spectators that, in addition to a vast participation, also achieves a perfect organisation.
