National Days on Holy Week Events in Italy

As part of the National Days on Holy Week Events, organized by "Europassione per l’Italia", the italian federation of Passion Plays, in Nettuno from 27th to 29th September 2024, a particularly busy weekend full of events was held.
The Prefect of Nettuno, Dr. Antonio Repucci welcomed at the Council Chamber of the Municipality the President of Europassione per l’Italia Flavio Sialino, the General Secretary of Europassion Thomas Hummel, the Mayor of Romagnano Sesia Dr. Alessandro Carini and Lidano Lucidi Mayor of Sezze representing the Network of Mayors of Europassione per l’Italia, the Presidents of the Groups adhering to the Italian federation and their delegates, Mayors and Municipal representatives.
An important topic of the meeting was the updating of the Statute of Europassione per l’Italia and the approval of its internal Regulation. The Statute and the Regulations were approved unanimously.
The Assembly of the Network of Mayors of Europassione for Italy followed, coordinated by the Mayors of Romagnano Sesia and Sezze. Finally, two Europassione per l'Italia projects were presented to involve the community of Passion Plays: Gorizia and Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025 and the Jubilee 2025.
Prof. Claudio Bernardi (Catholic University of Milan) explained the reasons why these initiatives should be joined by the Passion Play groups.
In the afternoon the participants attended at a well-known winery near Nettuno, to follow up and strengthen the twinning between Nettuno and Ciconicco established in 2021, through the tasting of wines respectively from Lazio and Friuli with notes about their characteristics, their history, winemaking, and production areas.
Subsequently, at the Spazio Vitale Theatre, the winners of the 1st National Photographic Competition promoted by Europassione per l'Italia have been awarded by the Jury; some of the participants received a special recognition as well.
At the end of the day the Passion of Nettuno was presented in its new experimental form. An original way of presenting the Passion which demonstrates that the human story of Christ still arouses, after more than two thousand years, emotions, stimuli and ideas that constantly push us to reflect and meditate on this event that changed the world.
