Europassion 2025 - Day 3

🇬🇧 It is not the end. It is the beginning.

On the third day of this year’s Europassion Congress in Crostwitz (Germany), the event reached its climax. The morning was dedicated to the exchange of information and ideas. After the welcome by Member of the European Parliament Oliver Schenk and a brief introduction to the history of the Crostwitz Passion Plays, the Sorbian people and their culture were presented. Afterwards, the Europassion board reported on current projects and future plans. The Passion Play groups also had the opportunity to present their own contributions and share their visions for the future of Europassion. The morning concluded with the presentation of the Passion Play of St. Margarethen (Austria), which will host the Congress in 2026.

In the afternoon, participants visited the “righteous” cemetery in Ralbitz as well as the St. Marienstern Monastery. In the evening, the highlight of the three congress days took place: the members of the Crostwitz Passion Plays presented an impressive performance of the suffering and death of Christ on their open-air stage. The unique production in the Sorbian language deeply moved the audience with its central message: “It is not the end. It is the beginning.”

At the solemn conclusion of the congress, the organizers from Crostwitz handed over the Europassion Statutes to the hosts of the 2026 Congress in St. Margarethen.

Am dritten Tag des diesjährigen Europassion-Kongresses in Crostwitz (Deutschland) erreichte die Veranstaltung ihren Höhepunkt. Der Vormittag stand ganz im Zeichen des Austauschs von Informationen und Ideen. Nach der Begrüßung durch den Europaabgeordneten Oliver Schenk und einer kurzen Einführung in die Geschichte der Crostwitzer Passionsspiele wurde das sorbische Volk mit seiner Kultur vorgestellt. Anschließend berichtete der Vorstand der Europassion über aktuelle Projekte und zukünftige Vorhaben. Auch die Passionsspielgruppen erhielten die Gelegenheit, eigene Beiträge zu präsentieren und ihre Vorstellungen zur Zukunft von Europassion zu teilen. Den Abschluss des Vormittags bildete die Präsentation der Passionsspiele St. Margarethen (Österreich), die 2026 Gastgeber des Kongresses sein werden.

Am Nachmittag folgte eine Besichtigung des „gerechten“ Friedhofs in Ralbitz sowie des Klosters St. Marienstern. Am Abend stand schließlich der Höhepunkt der drei Kongresstage auf dem Programm: Die Mitglieder der Crostwitzer Passionsspiele zeigten auf ihrer Freilichtbühne eine eindrucksvolle Aufführung vom Leiden und Sterben Christi. Die einzigartige Inszenierung in sorbischer Sprache berührte mit ihrer zentralen Botschaft tief: „Es ist nicht das Ende. Es ist der Anfang.“

Zum feierlichen Abschluss des Kongresses übergaben die Veranstalter aus Crostwitz die Europassion-Statuten an die Gastgeber des Kongresses 2026 in St. Margarethen.

Le troisième jour du Congrès Europassion de cette année à Crostwitz (Allemagne) a marqué l’apogée de l’événement. La matinée fut consacrée à l’échange d’informations et d’idées. Après les mots de bienvenue de l’eurodéputé Oliver Schenk et une brève introduction à l’histoire des Passions de Crostwitz, le peuple sorabe et sa culture furent présentés. Ensuite, le conseil d’administration d’Europassion rendit compte des projets en cours et des initiatives futures. Les groupes de Passion eurent également l’occasion de présenter leurs propres contributions et de partager leurs visions de l’avenir d’Europassion. La matinée se conclut par la présentation de la Passion de St. Margarethen (Autriche), qui accueillera le Congrès en 2026.

L’après-midi, les participants visitèrent le cimetière « juste » de Ralbitz ainsi que le monastère de St. Marienstern. Le soir, le point culminant des trois journées de congrès eut lieu : les membres des Passions de Crostwitz présentèrent sur leur scène en plein air une représentation impressionnante de la souffrance et de la mort du Christ. Cette mise en scène unique en langue sorabe toucha profondément le public par son message central : « Ce n’est pas la fin. C’est le commencement. »

Pour clore solennellement le congrès, les organisateurs de Crostwitz transmirent les statuts d’Europassion aux hôtes du Congrès 2026 à St. Margarethen.

Il terzo giorno del Congresso Europassion di quest’anno a Crostwitz (Germania) ha raggiunto il suo culmine. La mattinata è stata dedicata allo scambio di informazioni e idee. Dopo il saluto dell’eurodeputato Oliver Schenk e una breve introduzione alla storia delle rappresentazioni della Passione di Crostwitz, è stato presentato il popolo sorbo con la sua cultura. Successivamente, il consiglio direttivo di Europassion ha riferito sui progetti attuali e sui piani futuri. Anche i gruppi della Passione hanno avuto l’opportunità di presentare i propri contributi e di condividere le loro visioni per il futuro di Europassion. La mattinata si è conclusa con la presentazione della Passione di St. Margarethen (Austria), che ospiterà il Congresso nel 2026.

Nel pomeriggio i partecipanti hanno visitato il “giusto” cimitero di Ralbitz e il monastero di St. Marienstern. La sera si è svolto infine il momento culminante dei tre giorni di congresso: i membri delle rappresentazioni della Passione di Crostwitz hanno messo in scena, sul loro palcoscenico all’aperto, una straordinaria rappresentazione della passione e morte di Cristo. La messa in scena unica, in lingua sorba, ha toccato profondamente il pubblico con il suo messaggio centrale: « Non è la fine. È l’inizio. »

Alla conclusione solenne del congresso, gli organizzatori di Crostwitz hanno consegnato gli statuti di Europassion agli organizzatori del Congresso 2026 di St. Margarethen.

En el tercer día del Congreso Europassion de este año en Crostwitz (Alemania), el evento alcanzó su punto culminante. La mañana estuvo dedicada al intercambio de información e ideas. Tras la bienvenida del eurodiputado Oliver Schenk y una breve introducción a la historia de las Pasiones de Crostwitz, se presentó al pueblo sorbio y su cultura. Posteriormente, la junta directiva de Europassion informó sobre los proyectos actuales y los planes de futuro. Los grupos de la Pasión también tuvieron la oportunidad de presentar sus propias contribuciones y compartir sus visiones para el futuro de Europassion. La mañana concluyó con la presentación de la Pasión de St. Margarethen (Austria), que será sede del Congreso en 2026.

Por la tarde, los participantes visitaron el “cementerio justo” de Ralbitz y el monasterio de St. Marienstern. Por la noche tuvo lugar finalmente el momento culminante de los tres días de congreso: los miembros de las Pasiones de Crostwitz ofrecieron en su escenario al aire libre una impresionante representación del sufrimiento y muerte de Cristo. La puesta en escena única, en lengua sorbia, conmovió profundamente con su mensaje central: « No es el fin. Es el comienzo. »

En la solemne clausura del congreso, los organizadores de Crostwitz entregaron los estatutos de Europassion a los anfitriones del Congreso 2026 en St. Margarethen.
