L’Església de Santa Maria acull la presentació oficial amb representacions en directe, projeccions audiovisuals i una àmplia participació institucional del món cultural i religiós.

Cervera, 28 de febrer de 2026 — La Federació Catalana de Passions ha presentat oficialment la temporada 2026 de les Passions de Catalunya en un acte celebrat a l’Església de Santa Maria de Cervera, coincidint amb la commemoració del Mil·lenari de la ciutat. La jornada ha combinat cultura popular, patrimoni i arts escèniques en un esdeveniment que ha reunit representants destacats dels àmbits cultural, religiós i institucional del país. La trobada ha volgut simbolitzar la continuïtat entre dos moments històrics rellevants: el Mil·lenari del Monestir de Montserrat, escenari de la presentació de la temporada anterior, i el Mil·lenari de Cervera, ciutat amb una profunda tradició passionística.

La jornada va començar amb un esmorzar de benvinguda ofert per La Passió de Cervera, entitat amfitriona de l’acte, seguit d’una visita guiada pel patrimoni històric de la ciutat, que va permetre als participants descobrir el llegat cultural i monumental cerverí en el marc de la celebració mil·lenària.

Posteriorment, es va celebrar l’acte institucional a l’Església de Santa Maria amb la projecció del vídeo corporatiu de la temporada 2026 i la benvinguda del rector de la parròquia, Mn. Abel Trull. Tot seguit, va tenir lloc un moment simbòlic de traspàs entre Montserrat i Cervera amb la participació de representants institucionals i culturals, destacant l’entrega d’una auca commemorativa a la Federació i del llibre dels 10 anys de l’entitat al Paer en Cap de Cervera, Jan Pomés.

Durant la presentació es van projectar diversos audiovisuals dedicats a les 22 Passions federades, mostrant la seva diversitat territorial i artística i posant en valor el patrimoni cultural immaterial que representen. Paral·lelament, La Passió de Cervera va oferir diferents escenes dramatitzades en directe, entre les quals el monòleg de Sant Joan, el comiat de Jesús i Maria i el Cant de l’Àngel al Calvari, aportant emoció i força escènica a l’acte.

El president de la Federació Catalana de Passions, Jordi Carapuig, va destacar que «les Passions són una expressió viva de la cultura popular catalana que uneix generacions, territori i espiritualitat a través del teatre i la comunitat». L’acte va comptar també amb les intervencions de representants del Bisbat de Solsona, la Diputació de Lleida, el Consell Comarcal de la Segarra i el Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, que van posar en valor el paper de les Passions com a element clau del patrimoni cultural immaterial del país.

La cloenda artística de la presentació va anar a càrrec de “Les Veus Silents” de la Passió Medieval de Cervera, una proposta escènica que va connectar el passat medieval amb la vitalitat actual de la tradició i va reforçar el missatge central de l’acte: la Passió com a memòria viva i patrimoni compartit. Després del dinar institucional, la jornada va culminar a la tarda amb la representació escènica de “La Passió de Cervera”, en la qual també van participar membres d’altres entitats de Passions, simbolitzant l’esperit de col·laboració i unitat que defineix les Passions de Catalunya.

La Federació Catalana de Passions ha volgut destacar especialment la feina i l’esforç de La Passió de Cervera, entitat amfitriona de la trobada, que va fer possible una jornada cuidada fins al darrer detall gràcies a la implicació dels seus equips artístics, tècnics i organitzatius. Amb aquesta presentació, la Federació Catalana de Passions dona inici a una nova temporada que portarà representacions arreu del territori català, reafirmant el compromís amb la cultura popular, la participació ciutadana i la transmissió d’una tradició escènica amb segles d’història.

Cervera kicks off the 2026 Passions of Catalonia season as part of its millennium celebration

The Church of Santa Maria hosts the official presentation with live performances, audiovisual projections, and broad institutional participation from the cultural and religious sectors.

Cervera, February 28, 2026 — The Catalan Federation of Passions officially presented the 2026 season of the Passions of Catalonia in an event held at the Church of Santa Maria in Cervera, coinciding with the city’s millennium celebration. The day combined popular culture, heritage, and performing arts in an event that brought together leading representatives from the cultural, religious, and institutional spheres of the country. The gathering aimed to symbolize the continuity between two significant historical milestones: the millennium of the Monastery of Montserrat, which hosted the presentation of the previous season, and the millennium of Cervera, a city with a deep Passion play tradition.

The day began with a welcome breakfast offered by La Passió de Cervera, the host organization, followed by a guided tour of the city’s historical heritage, allowing participants to discover Cervera’s cultural and monumental legacy within the context of the millennium celebration.

Afterwards, the institutional event took place at the Church of Santa Maria, including the screening of the 2026 season’s corporate video and a welcome speech by the parish rector, Mn. Abel Trull. This was followed by a symbolic handover moment between Montserrat and Cervera, with the participation of institutional and cultural representatives, highlighted by the presentation of a commemorative auca to the Federation and the book marking the entity’s 10th anniversary to the Mayor of Cervera, Jan Pomés.

During the presentation, several audiovisual pieces dedicated to the 22 federated Passion plays were shown, highlighting their territorial and artistic diversity and emphasizing the intangible cultural heritage they represent. At the same time, La Passió de Cervera offered live dramatized scenes, including the monologue of Saint John, the farewell of Jesus and Mary, and the Angel’s Song at Calvary, adding emotional and theatrical depth to the event.

The president of the Catalan Federation of Passions, Jordi Carapuig, emphasized that “the Passion plays are a living expression of Catalan popular culture that unite generations, territories, and spirituality through theatre and community.” The event also featured speeches from representatives of the Diocese of Solsona, the Provincial Council of Lleida, the Regional Council of La Segarra, and the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, who highlighted the role of the Passion plays as a key element of the country’s intangible cultural heritage.

The artistic closing of the presentation was performed by “Les Veus Silents” from the Medieval Passion of Cervera, a stage proposal that connected the medieval past with the present vitality of the tradition and reinforced the central message of the event: the Passion as living memory and shared heritage. After the institutional lunch, the day concluded in the afternoon with a full performance of “La Passió de Cervera,” which also included members of other Passion groups, symbolizing the spirit of collaboration and unity that defines the Passions of Catalonia.

The Catalan Federation of Passions especially highlighted the work and dedication of La Passió de Cervera, the host organization, whose artistic, technical, and organizational teams made the event possible with great attention to detail. With this presentation, the Federation launches a new season that will bring performances across Catalonia, reaffirming its commitment to popular culture, citizen participation, and the transmission of a centuries-old theatrical tradition.
